Bank Guarantees and Documentary Letters of Credit

This bachelor thesis deals with problematic of bank guarantees and documentary letters of credit within the bank hedging instruments which belong to the banking sphere Trade Finance. These instruments are used for ensuring liabilities of trade relationships in domestic trade and also in international trade and reduce or even eliminate the risks incurred by higher mistrust and insecurity in trade relationships. The goal of this thesis is to theoretically comparate these bank hedging instruments, conclude their common characters or differences and furthermore to analyze their evolution from 2012 to 2018 by disaggregation to the particular evolutions according to certain criteria which are for example specific types of these hedging instruments, their length maturity or their territorial scope.Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o problematice bankovních záruk a dokumentárních akreditivů v rámci bankovních zajišťovacích instrumentů, které spadají do bankovní oblasti Trade Finance. Tyto instrumenty slouží k zajištění závazků vyplývajících z obchodních vztahů v tuzemském i mezinárodním obchodě a tím redukují či dokonce eliminují rizika vzniklá v důsledku zvýšené nedůvěry a nejistoty v obchodních vztazích. Cílem této práce je teoreticky komparovat tyto bankovní zajišťovací instrumenty, vyvodit jejich společné znaky či odlišné znaky a dále analyzovat jejich vývoj za období 2012 až 2018 pomocí desagregace na dílčí vývoje dle určitých kritérií, jimiž jsou např. konkrétní typy daných zajišťovacích instrumentů, délka platnosti či jejich teritoriální působnost
