Usage of the EPUB format as a system for on-line help

The aim of this bachelor thesis is exploration the possibilities of usage of the EPUB format as a system for on-line help. Within the framework there were some partial aims specified.The first of them is the inspection of the existing systems for the on-line help and on the basis of this inspection subsequent anylysis of the requirements the resultant application should necessarily fulfil and how it could be improved in the future to be synoptic and generally user friendly. The next partial aim is analyzing of the third format of EPUB and the decision if its potential is adequate for the creating of all the requirements of the application reached within the first partial aim. If these capabilities prove to be insufficient, this thesis plans and refers to the way how to extend the EPUB format to be able to fulfil its requirement by its instrumentality. The final part of the thesis is the implementation of the application with the utilization of all the informations and knowledge acquired acquired by the analysis mentioned before. The created program code and the process of implementation itself has been documented in the thesis including the description of all arised complications and their solution. On the basis of the accomplished analysis we can declare the third version of the EPUB with several extensions provides for the realisation of all the necessary requirements of the on-line helps. For the demonstration there is exemplary application created based on the pure Javascript with the utilization the free accessible libraries JSZip and highlight js.Cílem této bakalářské práce je prozkoumání možnosti využití formátu EPUB jako systému pro on-line nápovědu. V rámci práce bylo stanoveno několik dílčích cílů.Prvním z nich je prozkoumání existujících systémů pro on-line nápovědu a na základě tohoto průzkumu následná analýza požadavků, které by výsledná aplikace měla nezbytně splňovat a jak by mohla být v budoucnosti vylepšena, aby byla přehlednější a celkově uživatelsky přívětivější. Dalším dílčím cílem je analyzování třetí verze formátu EPUB a rozhodnutí, jestli jsou její možnosti dostačující pro tvorbu veškerých požadavků aplikace získaných v rámci prvního dílčího cíle. Pokud se tyto možnosti ukáží jako nedostačující, je v této práci navrženo a popsáno, jakým způsobem formát EPUB rozšířit, aby bylo jeho prostřednictvím možné dané požadavky splnit. Finální částí práce je implementace aplikace s využitím všech informací a vědomostí získaných výše uvedenými analýzami. Vytvořený kód programu i samotný proces implementace je v práci zdokumentován včetně popisu všech nastalých komplikací a jejich řešení.Na základě provedených analýz lze prohlásit, že třetí verze EPUBu s několika navrženými rozšířeními umožňuje realizaci všech nezbytných požadavků on-line nápovědy. Pro demonstraci je vytvořena ukázková webová aplikace postavená na čistém Javascriptu s využitím volně dostupných knihoven JSZip a highlight.js
