The free-floating electric scooter is a new phenomenon in the transport sector that seems to have a potential of promoting sustainable transportation and changing the way we travel in cities all around the world. This is done by catering the need for short trips and minimizing the dependence of self-owned vehicles and thus reducing the number of car trips. Though it seems to contribute to replacement of active sustainable traveling and create problems for pedestrians, it also seems to increase the number of inter-modal trips as well as act as a good solution to the first/last mile problem and also complement the public transport system.
