En quelques années, l'étude des hydrures sous pression a connu un véritable essor. Synthétisés à des pressions de plusieurs GPa, ceux-ci sont considérés aujourd'hui comme un moyen de plus en plus crédible d'observer la supraconductivité à température ambiante. Ce travail de thèse a eu pour but de développer de nouveaux outils pour la caractérisation des hydrures, et de synthétiser de nouveaux composés aux propriétés atypiques. H3S fut synthétisé à partir des éléments S et H et caractérisé par diffraction, de même pour PdH et PdD, avec une recherche de nouveaux polyhydrures par chauffage laser.
