Le propos de cette thèse est d’étudier le système « source-to-sink » du système Pyrénées et de son rétro-bassin d’avant-pays, le bassin d’Aquitaine et de son équivalent profond, le golfe de Gascogne (« Bay of Biscay »), durant le Cénozoïque. Ce travail a nécessité (1) une ré-évaluation biostratigraphique, (2) une analyse en termes de stratigraphie sismiques et une quantification des volumes de sédiments préservées, (3) une quantification des volumes érodés issus du Massif central, (4) une quantification des volumes érodés issus des Pyrénées, (5) une synthèse de l’ensemble de ces données.
