Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human serum. It bas numerous functions, one of which is transport of small hydrophobic molecules, such as metabolites, hormones, and nutrients, as well as drugs and toxins. This promiscuous, nonspecific affinity can !cad to competition and displacement of different ligand in binding to HSA and cause increase in toxicity of displaced ligands.
