A novel radar modelling Framework and its associated innovative modelling techniques are described. The Framework provides generic techniques for modelling a wide variety of radars, radar environments and scenarios, using a flexible object-oriented approach. It addresses many of the shortfalls of current radar models and provides a foundation for efficient radar model developments in the longer term. The history of radar modelling is briefly described and current commercially available radar modelling packages are evaluated.
