Epidemiological cohorts study individuals in populations, and close dialogue with participants to identify shared aims can lead to better science and public services. From an existing population cohort (LINKAGE) studying ageing, we set out to create opportunities to include qualitative narratives emerging through the LINKAGE study as a substrate for an installation exhibition (Unclaimed). We wanted participants to act as story-tellers, thereby influencing our understanding of the personal and societal impacts of ageing and public discourse on what it means to grow into older age.
