This research aimed to investigate the importance of reading for pleasure, and explore some influential factors which can impact attitudes towards it. A mixed Key Stage 1 class and their teachers were investigated through questionnaires, field notes and specific interventions. The findings demonstrated a discrepancy in the way adults thought they were portraying their reading passions, and the way the children viewed these efforts. The research concludes by emphasising the importance of reading for pleasure being present throughout the school, and for children to see clear role models who express a passion for reading and inspire a love for it within the children
