Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the factors involved in healing failure in a population of patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) after one year of follow-up. Methods: One hundred and forty-four patients were treated for DFU in a tertiary-care center and had a regular follow-up for one year. Laboratory measurements and clinical assessments, including long-term diabetes complications and risk factors for DFU, were collected at baseline and patients were divided in two groups according to the outcome [Healed group (H, n = 91), and Not Healed group (NH, n = 53)].
