Issues of state restructuring and rescaling are on the political agenda across much of Western Europe, but these general processes of restructuring take on different inflections in different countries. This paper will concentrate on the case of the UK, and in particular will explore the ways in which devolution has provided the opportunity for significant changes to the UK's structures of economic governance. This paper explores these issues both conceptually and empirically. Conceptually, it modifies Jessop's strategic-relational approach (SRA) to state theory.
