What is it about mathematics that causes anxiety for pupils?

This small scale research study explored what it is about mathematics that causes anxiety for pupils. The research was carried out in a primary school across three year groups. Pupils used drawings to elicit insight into mathematics anxiety as well as gaining teacher perceptions through a questionnaire.
