The 'wonder material' 3D-graphene (3D-C) is a type of allotropes of carbon with incredible properties that were discovered two decades ago. It is also an excellent electrical and thermal conductor. Many believe the implementation of this potential material can make a massive impact on the current technology. A prototype thermophone has been built in the Cintra lab in NTU using 3D-C. A 3DC thermoacoustic speaker does not require any mechanical vibration to generates sound, unlike other speakers. However, due to unknown reasons, the prototype system has a weak signal to noise ratio (SNR).
