In this study, a Schiff base ligand and its cobalt(II) and palladium(II) metal complexes were prepared. The structures of the obtained compounds were characterized through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis (microanalysis), ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, proton (1H) and carbon (13C) nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS), magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis.
