New concepts of pheromones in mammal Reproduction

Las feromonas son sustancias químicas altamente volátiles secretadas en diferentes órganos y liberadas al medio ambiente, en donde al ser percibidas por el sistema olfativo de individuos de la misma especie, inducen un cambio en el comportamiento. Diversas clases de feromonas regulan la actividad animal, sin embargo, el papel más importante que ellas cumplen se relaciona con el proceso reproductivo. Este artículo revisa a la luz del actual conocimiento la información existente sobre las feromonas con especial referencia a los mamíferos. Dichas sustancias vienen siendo objeto de una intensa investigación para tratar de demostrar su papel en los humanos en donde se tienen las primeras evidencias. Aspectos como el origen, la estructura química, la liberación, el transporte y las perspectivas futuras de investigación son analizados y discutidos.Pheromones are highly volatile Chemical substances, secreteó in different organs and liberated into the environment, where they induce a change in the behavior, when perceived by the olfatory system of individuáis of the same species. Diverse pheromone classes regúlate the animal activity, however, the most important paper they perform is related with the reproductive process. This article revises, at the light of the current knowledge, the existant information on the pheromones with special reference to mammals. These substances are being object of an intense research to try to demónstrate their role in humans, where the first evidences are sustained.
