These factors are constantly changing and their evolution is difficult to monitor. This article investigated the potentialities of images from SPOT 4 and 5 satellites to extract information about the land cover of a watershed of the Reunion Island (Indian Ocean). Land cover types then were combined with other factors of erosion (slope and soil type) within a Geographical Information System, and a decision tree was developed to map soil sensitivity to erosion.
