Mise en évidence d'une fosse à fumure du Haut-Empire au Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet (Indre)

National audienceIt is within the work of an archaeological diagnosis carried out on the commune of the Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet, Indre, that was discovered a manure pit related to an agrarian installation whose dating is dated between the 1 st and 3 rd centuries AD. These specific structures of pars rustica of ancient villae, directly related to the need for amendment of cultivated land, are still poorly known because rarely identified. In recent years, interest in the ancient rural economy and in particular the functional organization of the settlements allowed to question about these structures closely linked to an essential practice of the ancient agricultural economy. Their location and their morphology are now better known even if these structures remain difficult to apprehend. About the Center-Val de Loire region, the corpus, including five ancient rural settlements (one in Indre-et-Loire, one in Eure-et-Loir, two in Loir-et-Cher and one in Loiret), is completed by a new discovery in the Indre. This contribution brings to a still limited set, the first manuring pit highlighted in the Indre whose working is dated between the second half of the second and 3 rd centuries AD.C'est dans le cadre d'un diagnostic archéologique effectué sur la commune du Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet, dans l'Indre, qu'a été mise au jour une fumière ou fosse à fumure liée à une installation agraire dont la datation est comprise entre le i er et le iii e s. de notre ère. Ces structures spécifiques de la pars rustica des villae antiques, directement liées aux nécessités d'amen-dement des terres cultivées, sont encore assez mal connues car rarement identifiées. Depuis quelques années, l'intérêt pour l'économie rurale antique et notamment l'organisation fonc-tionnelle des établissements a permis de s'interroger sur ces structures intimement liées à une pratique essentielle de l'économie agricole antique. Leur localisation et leur morphologie sont aujourd'hui mieux connues même si ces structures restent difficiles à appréhender. Pour la région Centre-Val de Loire, le corpus constitué de cinq établissements ruraux antiques (un en Indre-et-Loire, un en Eure-et-Loir, deux en Loir-et-Cher et un dans le Loiret) vient de s'enri-chir d'une nouvelle découverte dans l'Indre. Cette contribution apporte, à un ensemble encore limité, la première fosse à fumure mise en évidence dans l'Indre dont le fonctionnement se situe entre la seconde moitié du ii e et le iii e s. de notre ère.
