Approches microéconomiques du développement économique local : prise en compte de la notion de capital social dans l'analyse des espaces périphériques

In order to study these mechanisms, this work uses the notion of social capital. The first part builds and presents the analytic framework, which is based on the analysis of market imperfections. Two forms of social capital are distinguished: local cohesion (bonding) and outer links (bridging). The second part presents theoretical essays, based on microeconomic models, covering three topics: the arbitration between bonding and bridging social capital, the negative effects of bonding social capital, and the importance of taking into account the agents' heterogeneity. The third part presents an empirical test of the role of social capital on economic performance, in the case of French rural areas. It proceeds in two steps: six case studies and econometric analysis. Results corroborate the positive role of social capital, of both forms bonding and bridging.Les caractéristiques sociologiques influencent de diverses manières le développement économique des régions. Pour étudier ces mécanismes, ce travail mobilise la notion de capital social. La première partie présente la construction du cadre d'analyse choisi, basé sur l'analyse d'imperfections de marché. Le capital social se décline sous deux formes : cohésion locale (bonding), et liens à l'extérieur de la région (bridging). La deuxième partie présente des développements théoriques sur trois sujets : l'arbitrage bonding/bridging, les effets négatifs du bonding, et l'importance de la prise en compte de l'hétérogénéité des agents. La troisième partie propose un test empirique du rôle du capital social sur la performance économique, dans le cas des espaces ruraux français. La démarche procède en deux temps : six études de cas, puis une analyse économétrique. Les résultats corroborent le rôle positif du capital social, sous ses deux formes de bonding et bridging
