[Departement_IRSTEA]GT [TR1_IRSTEA]RURAMEN / AMANDEInvestment subsidies are widely used in the European Union to help lagging areas catching up. This paper elaborates a theoretical framework allowing an evaluation of these schemes when firms self select into it. We empirically determine that labor is substituable to capital. Its demand increases (resp. decreases) before (resp. after) receiving the investment subsidy. Wood is complementary to capital.
