The move was prompted by McLoud and Tecumseh annexation moves which took in shaded areas. Shawnee took in two tracts, one just east of Techimseh and the area surrounding Shawnee Lake. Other annexation by the city, shown in dash lines, was 100-foot strips along the Rock Island railroad east to near Earlsboro and northwest to McLoud's city limits; the Oklahoma City Ada and Atoka railroad southeast to SH 9, and northwest to Dale; Santa Fe railroad north to the Lincoln County line. (T-4024062: Oklahoma City lapped over into Pottawatomie County Tuesday as the city council passed two ordinances annexing 320 acres in that county. The annexation was recommended by the city planning commission on petition of the property owners, according to Paul Clowers, city planning director...Howard Cudd, bond issue attorney, said that any futher annexations prior to the proposed election of $16.8 million in street, sewer and water bonds could make the election harder to conduct because of the additional precincts involved......Clowers said, it would protect the city from a new city locating within five miles inside that county.
