It resulted in less than $500 damage. It was extinguished by the city fire department. Inspecting the scortched walls is Max Musgrave, a school employee. the hallway lead from the vocal muscial room to the auditorium stage. The greatest damage was from smoke, said J. Garwin Fleming, the school principal. State and city fire marshall were called in to investigate. Fleming discounted the possibility of arson, however. He said there was no indication of a break-in. All outside doors were locked. The blaze was discovered at 5:10 a.m. It was the school's second fire in recent years. Fire gutted the school's auditorium during the 1956-57 school year, Fleming recalled.
