Lake Overholser, in the aerial view above, is 25 percent full after taking on water from last weekend's heavy rains. In fact, to save some of the storage space for future flows in the North Canadian river, city water department engineers have started draining some of the Lake Overholser surplus back into bigger Lake Hefner. The two lakes have taken in 5,600 acre-feet of water in the last week, and another big boost is on the way down the river with army engineers releasing 9,000 acre-feet from Canton dam.
