Caption: "A $100 million dream that envisioned Oklahoma City as the site of the nation's most modern and best planned urban expressway system is just five years away from reality. That's the opinion expressed by Jack Hull, chamber of commerce executive who keeps tabs on such projects and aids city, county, state and federal governments in keeping these programs moving. "I see no reason right now why this complete program can't be finished within five years or just shortly thereafter," says the man who probably is as well or better versed on the expressway subject than any man in the city. Reason for Hull's optimism is that work is in progress at some stage on every single mile of the proposed 100 miles of superhighways ringing and crossing the metropolitan area. And more important, moneyis available for most of the projects, because a great portion of the super roads is eligable for 90-10 money - that's 90 percent of cost from the federal government and only 10 percent from the state......Since the right of way for the north bypass was purchased in 1949, the plan has moved along slowly but steadily, moving into high gear when the new highway act provided the needed funds.
