Telephone Building Added To Skyline

Newest of the automatic direct long distance dialing structures is going up at NW 122 and Pennsylvania. Known as the Skyline 1 exchange, the $1 1/2 million project will serve the nothern part of the Village, Quail Creek and areas north to Memorial Rd. The Skyling and Sunset, on the city's west side, exchanges are the only two in the Oklahoma City metropolitan system which have their own direct long distance dialing facilities. The building should be complete by August with the whole facility in operation by next April. by November, however, the whole metropolitan system will be on direct long distance dial. Presently the skyline exchange is being served from the Victor exchange building at 7000 N Western. Current subscribers in the area number 2,260. Initial equipment will be able to handle 4,000. growth has been anticipated beyond that, however, as the exchange can be enlarged to handle 18,000 phones. With the Sunset exchange, $1.4 million, and a Spencer addition, $88,000, total volume in new constuction and facilities in the Oklahoma City Area since August has topped $2 1/2 million.
