Caption: "A crude oil line under a house in southeastern Oklahoma City exploded Monday destroying the house and damaging three others in a sea of blazing oil. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams at 312 SE 49 was destroyed. The couple was in the front part of the home when the explosion ripped the back out of the house. They were not injured. The burning oil sent billowing smoke hundreds of feet in the air. Fire inspector E. L. "Buddy" Koch said a 6-inch oil line owned by the Champlin Oil Co. ran through the alley behind the homes. He said he thought there was an abandoned line that ran under the Williams' home to an abandoned oil well directly across the street. Burning oil and wood spread to the homes of Mrs. Otis Warrior at 316 SE 49, on the east of the Williams' home; and to Mrs. Darlene Jenkins, 306 SE 49, on the west. All escaped injury. Debris from the Williams' home flew across the alley and burned two spots in the roof of the Mrs. Melvin Curry home at 309 SE 50. Williams, his wife, Myrtle, his daughter, Wanda Lee, and their dog, Tiny, were in the living room when the explosion ripped through their home.
