Because 36 adults and 69 cadette and senior Girl Scouts cared, some Oklahoma City girls who have never attended day camop may get to do so next summer. In a pilot program this summer volunteers cared for 100 girls from Oklahoma City's predominantly Negro Lincoln School, 1138 N Geary, at the Fun 'N' Sunday camp southeast of Oklahoma City on S-3. The success of the week-long experiment prompted Mrs. L. H. Thornberry, district Girl Scout sdviser, to predict the continuation of the program next summer. The Fun 'N' Sunday camp, located at the Red Lands Council's Cookieland Camp, was an outgrowth of an effort begun nine months earlier by the Community Council to determine how existing agencies could extend their services into areas not reached. Praising the volunteers, Mrs. Thornberry noted how valuable it was for the children to "have a person-to-person relationship for five days.
