CyberParks - Paesaggio e Nuove Tecnologie

An increasing interaction between digital media (smartphones, smartwatches and tablets) and public open spaces (parks, gardens, squares, etc.) is gaining ground and evolving. The potential and the risks of the technology ubiquitousness is drawing attention of social scientists, urban planners and ICT experts and developers. The COST Action “CyberParks” aimed at shedding light on this urban phenomenon – the interweaving of new technologies into public open spaces. Two key questions guided the action: how ICTs can increase the use of public open (green) spaces, and how ICT can best support the design and implementation of public spaces. It was fundamental to increase the knowledge on the contribution new technologies play in the transformation of our cities. A significant outcome was the evidence that cyberisation, apart from the very technical aspects, can be an easier way to foster social inclusion. This paper addresses some reflexions on role of technology to create more inclusive public open spaces. L’iterazione ormai consolidata tra mezzi di comunicazione digitale (devices), punti di accesso wi-fi e spazi pubblici (parchi, giardini, piazze ecc.) è in continua e rapida espansione. Le conseguenze di questa interdipendenza rappresentano una sfida nel progetto degli spazi verdi del futuro che potrebbero arricchirsi di uno strumento importante sia per i cittadini, che li potrebbero visitare fisicamente e virtualmente, navigando tra contenuti aggiuntivi di applicazioni mobili, sia per le amministrazioni, che avrebbero a disposizione feedback importanti, utilizzabili come nuovi strumenti di analisi e pianificazione. Il Progetto europeo COST “CyberParks” ha indagato alcuni dei temi legati a questa interdipendenza con particolare riferimento a come le Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) s’inseriscono nella fruizione delle aree verdi pubbliche e come possono supportare la progettazione e la realizzazione di spazi pubblici nell’ambito di aspetti sociali e d’inclusione, oltre che strettamente tecnologici
