The planthopper Hyalesthes obsoletus Signoret (Hemiptera Cixiidae) is the main vector of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’, that cause the grapevine Bois noir disease. Amongst the alternatives to synthetic pesticides, many studies have investigated the use of resistance inducers to control plant pathogens and phytophagous insects. In this study, the planthopper behavioural responses to volatiles emitted by grapevine shoots treated with three commercial chemical elicitors were investigated in a dual-choice olfac- tometer. Each formulation was applied at one of three different times, as 0, 2, and 7 days before the bioassays.
