Operationally, marine components and structures such as boiler in a Ship, are exposed to varying mechanically and thermally induced forces. High-frequency mechanical loading arises from the cyclic pressure, temperature transients, and six directional Rapid Amplitude Operator (RAOs). These types of loadings are mainly in the elastic region usually denoted as high cycle fatigue (HCF), most pronounced during the start-up, and the shut-down sequence of operation, which are responsible for an astronomically reduction in Marine Boiler’s lifetime as compared to land boiler with same designed operating condition.
