Deformation monitoring network needs to be well designed to meet the criteria of accuracy, reliability and more importantly sensitivity criteria. More specifically, in the deformation study, sensitivity analysis of the deformation monitoring networks needs to be conducted in order the monitoring networks to be able to detect the occurrence of deformation or movement. The use of sensitivity analysis of GPS vector in developing an optimization design for deformation monitoring network has been demonstrated by Tzur (2002).
