Kubitus varus deformitesinde dome osteotomi sonuçlarımız]

Objective: Cubitus varus deformity is the most common long-term complication of the trauma of elbow. There is no definitive consensus on whether correction of the deformity and indication criterias. Many surgical techniques has been described for anatomical restoration of the deformity. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical and radiographic results for cubitus varus deformity that corrected by dome osteotomy. Material and Methods: 10 elbows of 10 (6 male, 4 female) patients with cubitus varus treated with dome osteotomy were retrospectively evaluated. The mean age of the patients was 15 (range 7-26) years. A history of elbow trauma was present in all patients. At the posttraumatic period 4 patients treated by open reduction, 2 patients were treated conservatively, while 4 patients treatment was neglected. Only 3 patients had internal rotation. Preoperative and postoperative humerus-elbow-wrist angle, lateral prominence index, Mayo elbow scores and Barret satisfaction scale were analyzed. Results: The mean preoperative humerus-elbow-wrist angle was 14.7±6.06° varus. In the postoperative period with a mean of 25±6.33° correction, the average humerus-elbow-wrist angle was 10.1±5.77° valgus (p=0,005). Internal rotation was not observed in any patient at the postoperative period. After the surgery Mayo elbow performance score was improved significantly. Permanent complications were not observed in any patient. According to the Barret satisfaction score, patients and their parents were quite happy. None of the patients had "Lazy S" deformity. Conclusion: Consequently it have been identified that in the treatment of cubitus varus deformity using dome osteotomy is effective, safe and cosmetic. © 2015 by Türkiye Klinikleri
