Uzunluğu 122 km olan Giresun kıyısı boyunca belirlenen sekiz istasyondan toplanan midye (Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819) örneklerinin yumuşak dokularında, ağır metallerin birikim seviyeleri araştırılmıştır. Kıyı boyunca yer alan ilçeler esas alınarak sekiz istasyon belirlenmiştir. Ağır metal analizlerinden önce boy ve ağırlık ölçümleri yapılmıştır. Yas yakma yöntemi kullanılarak metal ekstraksiyonları mikrodalga sistemde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bruker ICP MS cihazında ağır metallerin (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, As, Se, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb ve Zn) analizleri yapılmıştır.
