With a prevalence of 1 million people in Europe and only limited therapeutic options, there is a high medical need for new approaches to treat cachexia. Our latest results highlighted microbial dysbiosis, characterized by a bloom in Enterobacteriaceae and altered gut barrier function in preclinical models of cancer cachexia. They also demonstrated the potential of targeting the gut microbial dysbiosis in this pathology.
