UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI FRAKSI ETANOL DAUN SIRIH HIJAU (Piper betle L.) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Shigella dysentriae SECARA IN VITRO

One of the medicinal plants in Indonesia and also known by the community. Some of the chemical content of betel leaf plants, such as saponins, flavonoids, polyphenols, and essential oils (Aiello, 2012). The Betel leaf plant used in modern medicine can be beneficial as an astringent, diuretics, and Antiinflammatory (Kartasapoetra, 1992). This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of green sirih leaf ethanol (Piper betle L.) of the Shigella dysenteria bacteria. Green Sirih leaf ethanol (Piper betle L.) is obtained using a fractionation method to get secondary metabolite compounds. In the test of the type of compound contained in the green betel leaf ethanol fraction (Piper betle L.) using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) method. While in this antibacterial test is done using the technique of diffusion discs. The result of the hating zone diameter of the test was at concentrations of 125 mg/ml at 10.69 mm, at concentrations of 250 mg/ml at 11.65 mm, while at a concentration of 500 mg/ml was obtained a barrier zone of 13.57 mm. According to the theory of CLSI (2017) stated that the diameter of the barrier zone obtained is included in the resistant category
