( NIDN ) 0022046501 Email : jokowaloyo0501@gmail.com Abstract The development of the livestock sub – sector has a strategic value in meeting human needs that continues to increase a long with population , per – capita increase and the standard of living of the comunity. Cattle breeding patterns have contributed greatly to the provition of national meat needs. The purpose of this study was to determine the motivation of farmes ia raising cattle and to know the characteristick of the farmers that partialy exert influence. This research was conducted in July until September 2019. Located in sub-districk of Kongbeng, East Kutai Regency, Eats Kalimantan Province. This reseach uses survey reseach, using a quantitative approach and uses methods proporsional random sampling. Characteristick of farmers in the form of age (X1), duration of raising (X2), educating (X3), ownership (X4), dependent family ( X5 ). ( i ) Age is thought to have an influence on person’s biological and physiological functions give affect to learning activities, speed of understanding and accepting things. Besides that Age also gives an affect on increasing a person’s productivity. The result of motivational cattle breeder research and knowing the characteristics of farmers that stimulants influence the motivation of farmers to give partial influence, the characteristics of farmers, the direct influence for farmers motivations namely from the results and parcial testing can be Concluded that be Characteristic. Age (X1), Duration of Raising (X2), Education (X3),Owhership (X4), Dependent Family (X5) provide a stimula effect on Farmer’s Motivation ( Y ) while the rest is influenced by other factors not observed
