Throughout history, writers have used various writing implements to put their thoughts down and share them with others. Although research has been done on what writing implement helps put thoughts down easily and effectively in an academic setting (Goldberg, Russell & Cook 2003; “WritingLonghand” 2016), results vary, and no research has been done on what implements university students studying creative writing prefer. This study looked at students majoring in English at Utah State University on what writing implements they prefer when writing creatively. The results indicate that a small majority prefers computers, but digital composition is closely followed by pen and paper. Preference in writing implement depends how quickly they are able...
