Este projeto de pesquisa do Mestrado Profissional em Matemática em Rede Nacional (PROFMAT) da Universidade Federal de Viçosa – Campus Florestal – tem como foco apresentar o Teorema de Burnside. O Teorema indica como fazer contagens em problemas que podem ser organizados por grupos de simetria e ́orbitas. Para tal são expostos os conceitos de Permutação, Grupo, Subgrupo, Subgrupo Normal, Subgrupo Quociente, Ações de Grupo, Grupos de Simetria, Orbitas e por fim Teorema de Burnside.
