The place of the documents in the processes of registration and registration of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute: a study on the historical archive of the Mariana House of Seventeenth

Esta dissertação teve dois objetivos. Primeiramente realizamos um estudo acerca do patrimônio documental custodiado pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN). Como objeto de análise, elegemos o processo de constituição do Arquivo Histórico da Casa Setecentista de Mariana (AHCSM), sob a guarda do IPHAN desde 1948. Analisamos os processos de tombamento e registro que contemplaram a cidade de Mariana e problematizamos o recurso à pesquisa histórica as fontes escritas. Os documentos ocuparam um lugar importante na trajetória do IPHAN e a proteção de amplos conjuntos documentais em Minas Gerais, entre eles os documentos que compõem o AHCSM, são representativos desta preocupação. No entanto, identificamos que não havia um consenso em relação a relevância do recurso a pesquisa histórica as fontes escritas para a produção de um conhecimento histórico sobre o patrimônio cultural. Aclaramos essa faceta da atuação do órgão tão pouco explorada pela literatura do patrimônio cultural a partir de um caso específico, ou seja, o AHCSM. Com esse entendimento, evidenciamos os principais sujeitos, as posições que ocupavam e os discursos que conferiram importância a esta documentação, assim como os posicionamentos que predominaram e delinearam as práticas de intervenção no campo do patrimônio cultural. O segundo objetivo consistiu em uma intervenção prática em consonância com a reflexão teórica realizada. Para tanto, informatizamos os instrumentos de pesquisa (catálogos) do AHCSM para disponibilização no Portal Acervos de Minas Gerais. Ainda elaboramos e apresentamos ao IPHAN a proposta de candidatura daquele conjunto documental ao Comitê Nacional do Brasil do Programa Memória do Mundo da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (UNESCO). Com isso, evidenciamos as possibilidades da pesquisa histórica às fontes escritas para a ampliação dos debates acerca do patrimônio cultural, sobretudo para a inserção de sujeitos historicamente negligenciados e para uma concepção integradora de patrimônio cultural material e imaterial, a partir da documentação do AHCSM.This dissertation had two objectives. First, we carried out a study about the documentary patrimony guarded by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN). As an object of analysis, we have chosen the process of constituting the Historic Archives of the House of Mariana Setecentista (AHCSM), under the custody of IPHAN since 1948. We have analyzed the processes of registration and registration that contemplated the city of Mariana, and discussed the use of historical research the written sources. The documents occupied an important place in the history of IPHAN and the protection of large documentary collections in Minas Gerais, among them the AHCSM documents, are representative of this concern. However, we identified that there was no consensus regarding the relevance of the resource to historical research sources written for the production of a historical knowledge about cultural heritage. We clarify this facet of the performance of the organ so little explored by the literature of cultural heritage from a specific case, that is, the AHCSM. With this understanding, we highlight the main subjects, the positions they occupied and the speeches that gave importance to this documentation, as well as the positions that predominated and outlined the intervention practices in the field of cultural heritage. The second objective consisted in a practical intervention in line with the theoretical reflection carried out. To do so, we computerized the research tools (catalogs) of the AHCSM for availability in the Portal Collections of Minas Gerais. We also prepared and presented to IPHAN the proposal for the application of this documentary set to the Brazilian National Committee of the Memory of the World Program of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Thus, we present the possibilities of historical research to the written sources for the expansion of debates about cultural heritage, especially for the insertion of historically neglected subjects and for an integrative conception of material and immaterial cultural heritage, from the AHCSM documentation
