The open source Content Management System Plone is used as a versatile software framework to build Web portals and Intranets, as well as application software. Several public research organizations in Italy adopted Plone for their institutional web sites. The presentation recalls weakness, robustness and evaluation criteria for Plone CMS, as emerged during the first Italian Plone for Research and University Day held in Bologna in May 2010. Some state of the art examples are illustrated, including INGV web portal, while differences and similarities are discussed.PublishedNapòli, Area della ricerca CNR Napoli15.10. TTC - Sistema webope
