The new portal of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia: towards a more usable way to work and communicate over the web

New web portal of Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia is the result of a laborious redesign process which started on the occasion of the scientific re-organization of the Institute. In order to provide reliable and up-to-date information, researchers and responsible for research activities and specific services have been called to write web contents by themselves, using a content management system. The paper describes main phases of the redesign process, including the re-organization of portal contents and services, and the features of the adopted system.
