In my paper I would like to present a Hungarian Catholic children-movement of the Jesuits called “Szívgárda”. The movement flourishing in the interwar period came into existence in 1915 in honour of the sacred Heart of Jesus for children between the ages 6 to 14. Because the Hungarian Jesuits excelled in press apostolate, the press became one of the main pastoral care media of the Szívgárda as well. It had a magazine, several prayer-booklets, Christian didactic novels and prayer books. These publications played an important role in the moral education of the contemporary youth. In this sense we can say that they are a medium for acculturization controlled by the church. In my study I would like to bring this previously completely unexplored...
