It is argued that Marx's LTOV is an integrated, scientific system, and that adhering to the theory and methodology of historical materialism is the prerequisite for a better understanding of LTOV. LTOV is not merely a theory explaining decisions about simple exchange of commodities, it is equally applicable in the present context of socialist market economy
