Rehabilitation of a child with congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors : case report

Agenesia dentária é uma anomalia de desenvolvimento caracterizada pela ausência de elementos dentários, tendo, a genética como principal fator etiológico. A falta congênita de elementos dentários pode acometer tanto a dentição decídua quanto a permanente, sendo esta última mais frequente (estima-se prevalência de 1,1 a 14,2%). Excluindo os terceiros molares, a ausência mais comum envolve os incisivos laterais superiores, como no caso clínico a ser apresentado neste estudo. A ausência congênita de dentes anteriores tem grande impacto no sorriso do paciente, sendo um desafio estético a mais para o profissional. No caso clínico em questão, optou-se pela reanatomização dos caninos permanentes superiores, transformandoos em incisivos laterais.Tooth agenesis is the absence of teeth, having the genetic the main etiological factor. Congenital absence of teeth can affect both primary teeth and permanent, the latter being more frequent (estimated prevalence from 1.1 to 14.2%). Excluding third molars, the most common is the absent of the upper lateral incisors, as in the clinical case to be present in this study. Congenital absence of front teeth has a major impact on the patient's smile, one of the most aesthetic challenge for the professional. In the clinical case in question, it was decided to transform the upper permanent canines into lateral incisors
