Tuberculose bovine en France : cartographie des souches de <em>Mycobacterium bovis</em> entre 2000-2013

National audienceGenotyping of Mycobacterium bovis provides information for following bovine tuberculosis transmission in space and time. The genotypes from the collection of M. bovis strains isolated from cattle outbreaks in France from 2000 to 2013 were analysed by spoligotyping and VNTR typing. Within the 976 strains studied, 163 different genotypes were found, six of which represent almost half of all the strains included in this study. The rest of the genotypes were less common throughout the period, but their regionalisation remained a common feature. The predominant strains, most of which are also found in wildlife, were seen throughout the period, proliferating locally through clonal expansion in endemic areas. Fluctuations of the genetic variability of M. bovis were observed over time, with a decrease in diversity found in the middle of the period studied. However, the number of genotypes tended to increase in the 2009-2013 sub-period, probably due to improved surveillance on the national level following implementation of a new control program launched in 2010 that enabled the detection of higher numbers of outbreaks. This great genetic variability coupled with the strong regionalisation of the genotypes makes molecular typing a powerful tool not only for establishing hypothetical outbreak origins, but also for studying the disease’s transmission patterns and identifying regions with potential problems in order to its dissemination.Le génotypage de souches de Mycobacterium bovis fournit des informations qui permettent de suivre la transmission de la tuberculose bovine dans l’espace et dans le temps. Les génotypes de la collection de souches de M. bovis isolées dans les foyers bovins en France entre 2000 et 2013 ont été analysés par spoligotypage et typage VNTR. Parmi les 976 souches étudiées, 163 génotypes différents ont pu être déterminés, dont six représentaient presque la moitié de la totalité des souches de l’étude. Les génotypes restants étaient peu représentés pendant la période mais la régionalisation demeure une caractéristique clef. Les souches prédominantes, dont la plupart sont également présentes dans la faune sauvage, persistent pendant toute la période, s’amplifiant par expansion clonale localement et semblant se pérenniser. Des fluctuations dans la variabilité génétique de M. bovis au cours du temps ont été constatées, avec une diminution de la diversité au milieu de la période étudiée. Néanmoins, une tendance à l’augmentation du nombre de génotypes a été observée pendant la sous période 2009-2013, sans doute lié à l’amélioration de la surveillance au niveau national depuis la mise en place du nouveau plan de lutte en novembre 2011 qui a permis de détecter davantage de foyers. Cette grande variabilité génétique couplée à la forte régionalisation de génotypes fait du typage moléculaire un outil très puissant pour établir des hypothèses sur l’origine des foyers, mais également pour étudier les profils de transmission de l’infection et ainsi reconnaître les régions potentiellement à problème afin d’éviter sa propagation
