In the wake of memory: the social issue and the mobilization of sailors, performance and repression in the city of Rio Grande-RS (1962-1964)

This study consists of the reconstruction through the revived memory, the trajectory of a particular social group. Consisting of squares of the Navy of Brazil who were members or supporters of the Sailors Association and Marines of Brazil (AMFNB) between the years 1962-1964, particularly those from the southern part gaucho state. From the analysis of the trajectories of these military in the Navy during the period screen, rebuild the trajectory of the association itself, aiming to understand the social question in a context of domination and resistance, and the consequent struggle for rights in the Brazilian naval force. And yet, the way they gave the performance of AMFNB in the political and social context tensioned before the coup event, especially in the city of Rio Grande-RS. In this context, considering the strategic importance of riograndina metropolis, besides its symbolic importance for the Navy, we analyze the way how was the repression in the city, especially during the month of April 1964, and the relationship between the intensity of this action repressive captained the Navy and the unfolding of the mobilization of sailors.Sem bolsaO presente estudo consiste na reconstrução, através da memória reavivada, da trajetória de um segmento social específico. Constituído por praças da Marinha do Brasil que foram membros ou apoiadores da Associação de Marinheiros e Fuzileiros Navais do Brasil (AMFNB) entre os anos de 1962-1964, em especial aqueles oriundos da zona sul estado gaúcho. A partir da análise das trajetórias destes militares na Marinha durante o período em tela, reconstruiremos a trajetória da própria associação, tendo como objetivo compreender a questão social em um contexto de dominação e resistência, e a consequente luta por direitos na força naval brasileira. E ainda, a forma como se deu a atuação da AMFNB no contexto político-social tensionado anterior ao evento golpista, especialmente na cidade de Rio Grande-RS. Neste contexto, considerando a relevância estratégica da urbe riograndina, além de sua importância simbólica para a Marinha, analisaremos a maneira como se deu a repressão na cidade, especialmente durante o mês de abril de 1964, e a relação entre a intensidade desta ação repressiva capitaneada pela Marinha e os desdobramentos da mobilização dos marinheiros
