This essay investigates the parenting pattern in families in association with the condition of children’s disability and delves into the impact that social policies can have on such a relationship. The regulatory tools, currently available (introduced by the so-called “Dopo di Noi” [“After us”] law), pay an increasing attention to the acquisition of autonomy by people with disabilities, by encouraging their autonomy and the implementation of measures aimed at limiting their further vulnerability following the loss of their parents. After analysing the regulatory tools, the essay focuses on a study case of a project realized within the framework of this line of interventions.
