This article analyses similar phenomena in two moments of our history: The relation of violence suffered by homeless population and a garbage dump, near to the Guandu River, in the Baixada Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro, in the sixties, when preparations were made for the visit of Queen Elisabeth and the real estate value of the place and the wave of banishment to which homeless population are submitted, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in preparation of mega events, such as the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.
