The aim of this study was to evaluate alternative substrates for the production of lettuce seedlings. We used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments consist of substrates: Bioplant ®, Black earth + humus, black earth + humus + coconut fiber, black earth + Filter cake + humus, submitted to 5 repetitions, totaling 20 plots consisting of 14 seedlings each. The variables evaluated were: number of leaves (NF), number of true leaves (NFD), shoot length (CPA), root length (RL), fresh weight (MFPA), fresh root (MFRA ), dry matter (SDM) and root dry mass (MSRA).
