The Technology Obsolescence Model (TOM) provides a framework of key factors involved in assessing influences to the decision to replace obsolete Information Technology (IT) systems. TOM focuses upon what is important and significant to the replacement decision. Formulated from well-established models in decision making and technology acceptance, TOM presents a structured interface of influence factors crossing technical, business, organizational, and interpersonal effects matched with demographic influence assessment.
