The purpose of this qualitative study was to develop a better understanding of how urban adolescents with disabilities in alternative schools make sense of their life journeys. Using grounded theory as a guide for the research methodology this research described (a) elements of resiliency, and (b) self-efficacy, as well as (c) how they define their futures. Ten 11th grade male students with disabilities in an alternative school setting were observed during a weekly year long group intervention that focused on their futures and were interviewed individually after the school year.
